KL Rahul will not play in India’s first two games against Pakistan and Nepal at the 2023 Asia Cup

<p>KL Rahul has been ruled out of the group stage of the 2023 Asia Cup, which will be contested in a one-day format this time around, as he won’t be available for India’s first two games of the tournament.</p>

<p>Rahul got surgery in England after suffering a thigh injury earlier this year during the IPL 2023.The top-order batsman joined the Indian team for a training camp in Alur (Karnataka) after finishing his recuperation at the NCA. The camp ended on Tuesday.</p>
<p>Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India, has said that despite the positive development, Rahul would be absent from the matches against Pakistan and Nepal.</p>
<p>KL Rahul is making excellent progress, but he won’t be ready for India’s first two games, Dravid said to reporters on Tuesday.</p>
<p>Before going head-to-head with Nepal on September 4, India begins their campaign against Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele.</p>
<p>For months, India has worried about the health of the middle-order pair of Rahul and Shreyas Iyer.Iyer had back surgery, which also caused him to miss a large amount of time from work.</p>
<p>Rahul’s recuperation is being handled with a “cautious approach,” according to Dravid, but Iyer has completed all the requirements and is now simply in need of match practice.</p>
<p>“(During the boot camp) (Iyer) looked quite decent. Giving him additional playing time is key; ideally, it will happen at the Asia Cup. He has performed well in terms of fitness, batted admirably, and checked off all the boxes, according to Dravid.</p>
<p>“Rahul and Shreyas are in the exact same situation. cautious attitude while dealing with KL. We are hopeful that he will just be absent for the first two games and return for the Asia Cup portion of the journey.</p>
<p>Beginning on August 30, Pakistan will play Nepal in Multan to kick off the Asia Cup.</p>
